Tips for Perfect Banana Bread
Use Overripe Bananas: The key to great banana bread is using overripe bananas—those with brown spots or even fully brown skins. The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful the bread will be. Don’t toss those overripe bananas; turn them into banana bread instead!
Don’t Overmix the Batter: When combining the wet and dry ingredients, mix until just combined. Overmixing can lead to a dense loaf, so be gentle when folding the ingredients together.
Check for Doneness: Every oven is different, so check your banana bread for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs, your bread is ready. If there’s wet batter on the toothpick, bake for a few more minutes.
Let it Cool: Although it’s tempting, let the banana bread cool before slicing. This helps it set and slice more easily, ensuring you get those perfect, beautiful slices.
Freeze for Later: If you’re not going to finish the loaf right away, banana bread freezes beautifully. Just wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and store it in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to eat, just thaw it at room temperature or pop it in the microwave for a few seconds to warm it up.
With using 4 bananas, this is a very moist bread. This makes it take longer to cook. I stick a butter knife or toothpick down the middle after 55 minutes. If it comes up with batter on it, I will cook in 5 minute incriminates until knife or toothpick no longer comes up with batter.
